Here’s how to brew your iced coffee:
While brewing a pourover hot, we suggest using 15g of ground coffee for 250ml of water. For iced coffee, aim for a total of 250ml including the ice, thereby reducing the amount of water used for brewing.
1 Ice The Chemex: Fill the Chemex with a few ice cubes, keep in mind that too much ice will dilute the coffee.
2 Heat Your Water: Bring water to just below boiling temperature (around 95°C), which is ideal for extracting the full flavor of the coffee without scalding it.
3 Wet the Grounds: Pour a small amount of hot water over the grounds to pre-wet them. This allows the coffee to 'bloom' and release gases, ensuring a smoother flavour. Wait 30 seconds before proceeding to the next step.
4 Brew Your Coffee and Enjoy: Pour the rest of the water slowly over the coffee in a circular motion, ensuring all grounds are saturated. Use the measurement markings to monitor the amount of coffee brewed and stop at the desired amount.
